Privacy
Last updated: October 15, 2026.
This site has no accounts and nothing that follows you around the web. Here is exactly what it does and doesn’t keep.
What we collect
Anonymous, aggregate counts of how the site is used, so we can make it better:
- search terms that come up empty — so we know which rules to add or explain better
- which options people pick when they build a house-rules set — how tables actually play, and how that shifts over time
- how often pages and features get used, including printing, sharing, emailing a set, and clicks through to our tip page
- whether a visit is your first or a return one, as a single running total — never which pages you looked at, never tied to your device
- which country (and, where it can be determined, state or region) visits come from, as a running total per place — never an exact location, never tied to a device or a visit
- how you arrived — from a search engine, an AI assistant, social media, another website, the home-screen app, or directly — as a running total per kind, never the page you came from
What we don’t
- No accounts, no login, nothing that follows you across other sites.
- No names, no email addresses, no raw IP addresses, no device fingerprinting — none of it, ever. If you asked us what any one person did on this site, we couldn’t tell you.
- Location is resolved from your connection by our hosting provider before it ever reaches us — we never see, log, or store an IP address, only a country/state total that gets one added to it.
- The counts are totals. A choice you make in the builder is added to a tally; it is never stored against you, your ruleset, or your other choices.
- The house rules you write in your own words are yours. They are never read, mined, or counted — only shown back to you.
- A search that looks like it contains an email address or a long string of digits is discarded, not stored.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we don’t count your visit at all: nothing is added to any of the totals above. The site works exactly the same either way.
Affiliate links
Our buying guide links to Amazon. If you buy something after clicking through, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Those links set Amazon’s own cookies to track the referral — that’s between you and Amazon, not something we see or store. Nothing else here changes: we still don’t track you anywhere else on this site.
Tips
Our tip link goes to Ko-fi. If you leave a tip, it happens on Ko-fi, with payment handled by PayPal or Stripe, under their privacy policies. We never see your card or payment details, and nothing about your visit reaches Ko-fi unless you click through. We count those clicks as a single running total, nothing more.
Your rulesets
Your rulesets and preferences live on your own device. Saving a shareable set also stores its contents on our server so the link works for your table and your other devices — still not tied to your identity. Emailing a set to yourself uses that address only for that one message; we don’t keep it.
On iPhone, the home-screen app can’t see what you saved in Safari. When you add it from our “Put it on your home screen” page, we hold your saved sets’ links for up to 24 hours so the app can pick them up, then delete them — sooner, the moment the app does.
Who else handles data
We don’t sell or share your information with anyone. Three companies run parts of the site for us, and handle data only to do that job:
- Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, it receives your connection’s IP address when you load a page, and works out the country and state we count.
- Neon stores our database: the running totals above, and the house-rules sets you choose to share.
- Resend delivers the emails you ask us to send, and keeps a record of each delivery for a limited time.
No other company collects information about you through this site, apart from Amazon and Ko-fi once you click through to them.
Changes and questions
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Questions about your privacy, or something you’d like removed? Email privacy@mexicantrainhouserules.com.
